KIDS FIRST Learning Place

Enhanced Learning Center

Environment

Our Infant/Toddler program features a separate building designed specifically for children birth-33months.  With everything accessible to them and the guidance and care of Primary care-giving teachers, they are able to learn through their experiences.  Newly renovated, it is an appealing classroom that we call “School”.

Program Goals

Understand simple one and two-step directions

Introduced to Zoo-Phonics, its animals  and how it progresses in to letter recognition

Learn Simple Sign Language (eat, more, milk, water, please, thank you, etc.)

Explore with art experiences that help develop  fine motor and sensory motor growth

Mastering self-help skills such as drinking from a cup and using a fork or a spoon.

Throughout each day books will be read.  Toddlers can begin to learn values, explore feelings, and gain insight about growing up.

Toddlers and the Creative Curriculum®

The Creative Curriculum® helps us to focus our Infant/Toddler program on the needs of young children.  Using a community approach we are here to support families in the growth of their children.  Infants and Toddlers are exposed to 7 different areas of growth and discovery.                                                                                                                      At KIDS FIRST we believe that Early Childhood Education should be a partnership.  We look forward to joining your family on this journey.

Toddlers and Zoo-phonics

“The Zoo-phonics Program fully involves the child’s eyes, ears, mouth and body as they learn phonemic awareness, the alphabet and how to decode (read) and encode (spell/write).”

“Zoo Phonics is so playful.  Watch baby animals as they play.  They are in constant motion as they wrestle, jump, roll, snarl, yip, and growl.  This is important preparation for adulthood.  The same goes for children.  They’re in constant motion and they love to make noise.  So let’s use what is natural for them and channel it for learning!  If they are moving, they have fun and they are processing information through this important movement and sound production!”
